Tooram is a historical derivation from the language of the Gunditmjara and Kirrae Whurrong peoples in Southwest Victoria, meaning tidal estuary. The Tooram stones is a rock formation within the Hopkins River, which has been a historical meeting place and subsequent local landmark.
Today, Tooram is established in Canberra. The city’s place name is derived from the Ngunnawal peoples’ language for meeting place.
